We’ve made it to the New Year of 2021. It certainly hasn’t been easy, certainly not predictable or expected, but let’s be glad that we are able to wake up each morning and be disease free. Covid 19 has not claimed us, like it has so many others. Some family members have been assaulted by it, but thankfully, they have recovered. So, while socially distancing for almost a year has been very difficult both physically and emotionally, we continue on with the hope that the vaccination program will be successful and put an end to this pandemic.
Let’s give thanks to all the first responders, healthcare workers, truck drivers, grocery workers, teachers and essential workers who risked so much to ensure that we were able to get the care and support we needed through this difficult time. This pandemic caused many challenges to post office employees, Fed Ex and UPS drivers and everyone involved in the supply chain of our daily lives. We are grateful for all their efforts.
I am also personally grateful to religious leaders for keeping the flame of hope and faith burning at this terrible time. When we are feeling alone they remind us that we are never truly alone.
So my wish for everyone this New Year is that you will find the faith and resilience to carry on and be able to see the end of the pandemic. While it is hard to find good in dark times, we have all witnessed so many local and national acts of charity. As Mr. Rogers said, “…Look for the helpers.” We have seen so many helpers that inspire us in the past year. Let’s all find a way to be a helper because there are so many in need right now.
