Celebrating Two Grandsons

This past Saturday I had the privilege of celebrating with my two grandsons, Michael and Thomas. Michael turned five on Sept. 1 and most of the family was able to come to my home for lunch and his birthday party. He was excited to see his cousins Ari, Eliana and Thomas arrive as well as his Aunt Katie and Uncles, John, Tom, Michael and Dan. Unfortunately his dad, James, was on call for work and his Uncle Steve was sick so they couldn’t attend.

We had Ledo pizza for lunch and an ice cream cake for Michael’s party. After he opened his presents, he had fun playing with Ari and Ellie.

Then at 5:40, my youngest grandson, 13 week old Thomas was baptized at St. Ignatius Church Chapel Point. His parents Katie and Dan were proud to present their son as well as his godparents, Aunt Marianne and Uncle Tom. The baby was very cooperative and never cried, even when Father Clifford poured the water over his forehead. His paternal grandparents Mary and Dan Renwick and his Uncle Matt were also in attendance.

The young cousins had fun sitting in different pews in the church and running up and down the aisles during the ceremony. At times they would wander up to be with their parents near the baptismal font to see what was going on.

After the ceremony we all went to Katie and Dan’s home where we were treated to a delicious dinner from a local restaurant. It was so nice to have most of the family present to celebrate with the two grandsons and nephews and cousins. I always enjoy seeing my adult children whenever I can and listening to their conversations. The pandemic has made it even more clear that family is one of the best blessings in life. I thank God for the gift of love that brought my children and grandchildren into being. I believe my husband John’s spirit was there to share this special day.
