Recently I had the pleasure of celebrating three family birthdays with three very special males in my life. The first date was May 31st, when my youngest son, Stephen, celebrated his 28th birthday. My son, Michael, and I drove to Olive Garden to celebrate with Stephen and his girlfriend Elisabeth. We had a very nice time as Stephen told us about his weekend trip to George Washington National Forest in Millboro, VA. It is always nice to spend time with Stephen and Elisabeth and hear about their latest adventures. He also told us about plants he is growing in his apartment. Elisabeth’s hobby of growing plants has rubbed off on him.
My grandson, Tommy, turned 2 on Friday, June 2nd. His Mom, my daughter Katie and her husband, Dan and Tommy’s sister Eliana, all came over for a small celebration with cake and ice cream. On Saturday, June 10th, Tommy had his big birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese in Waldorf and his cousin Michael attended with Aunt Marianne and Uncle James, Uncle Mike, Uncle Stephen and grandparents and lots of friends. Parties at Chuck E. Cheese are always fun, because the children love playing the games, winning prizes and eating pizza and dipping dots. I baked a Funfetti cake for Tommy and he enjoyed his celebration.
On Monday, June 5th, I traveled up to my oldest son John’s home in Ijamsville as a surprise to spend time with him on his 42nd birthday. We enjoyed lunch from Chipotle and had a nice conversation. He showed me creative things he was working on for his new job as a deep fake artist. When Georgette his wife and Nora and Hannah, his daughters came home, we all went out to the Black Hog restaurant to enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner. It was really nice spending time with his family on his birthday. The girls always have something new to tell me and are a delight to visit. One thing Stephen and John have in common is their favorite type of cake, carrot cake, so I baked each one of them a carrot cake for their birthdays. Birthdays are a great time to remind family members of the love we share and the best wishes we extend to them.
