Michael is Eight!

As they say, “How time flies!” It is hard to believe that my grandson, Michael, turned eight on September 1st. Doesn’t seem that long ago that I was waiting to find out what sex and name my daughter, Marianne and son in law, James, had named their baby. James came in with a big smile on his face and told me, “It’s a boy and his name is Michael.” I was thrilled to hear the news that they were both fine and healthy.

Over the last eight years, Michael has grown and become an important family member, the first and only one of two grandsons with five granddaughters. He is always looking for fun and his visits mean a lot to me. When he gets together with his cousins at my house, there is always a good time for everyone. He has many interests from Legos to superheroes to video games. His Lego skills are amazing! He has built so many Lego structures, we think he might have architecture in his future! He also enjoys reading books most nights with his Mom and has learned a lot about animals, one of his favorite topics.

He is in second grade and doing very well in his school, St. Mary’s Bryantown. This will be a big year for him, because he is scheduled to make his First Communion next Spring. Another celebration to look forward too!

While some of the family celebrated on his birthday, September 1st with pizza and cake at his home, Michael had a bigger family/friend celebration at Let’s Play in Prince Frederick on Saturday, September 21st. Most of his cousins and school friends were able to join him at the indoor inflatable playground for fun, pizza and cupcakes. Unfortunately two of his cousins, Ellie and Tommy were sick and couldn’t be there with him. All the kids had a great time on the inflatables and enjoying the dinner. Michael requested chocolate cake and buttercream icing for his original party on September 1st and I made chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing with sprinkles for his second party.

We’re all looking forward to more adventures with Michael! It is exciting to see his caring personality develop and enjoy his interactions with family members! Love you, Michael!
