Four October Birthdays!

This past Saturday, October 12, was yet another family celebration. Because there are four October birthdays, we like to get together and share the happiness of our family members who were born this month. Camilla turned 6 on October 8th, she is one of my granddaughters. Tom, my son, turned 41 on October 9th. Dan, my son in law, turned 37 on October 10th. Michael, another son, turned 38 on October 14th.

The partygoers included Tom and Marissa, Katie, Dan and their children Eliana and Tommy, Marianne and James and Michael their son, Elisabeth and Stephen and their dog Teddy and Elisabeth’s sister’s dog, Jordi, Uncle Mike and Mom Mom. The house was full with a lot of energy (mostly the grandchildren and dogs) and conversation. I always enjoy hearing the adult children talk to each other and catch up on their lives.

I had the grandchildren help feed the birds and squirrels in the backyard by throwing handfuls of peanuts and birdseed. Then they were each given some bang snaps (tiny popping explosives) to throw on the back patio. Finally they took a bin of balls and tossed them around for awhile.

After a dinner of barbecued chicken, salad, broccoli, smashed potatoes, and stuffing, everyone continued their conversations in the family room. Next, several of the parents played a game titled Telestrations with the children. Then it was time for the party and back to the dining room to sing, “Happy Birthday” to the birthday men. We missed Camilla and Ariana who couldn’t make the party as well as Uncle John and Nora. Hannah and Georgette had a previous invitation to a birthday party and also couldn’t attend.

Looking forward to Halloween, our three November birthdays, and Thanksgiving! It is always great to get together with the family to celebrate!
