Another exciting Halloween night for my grandchildren. This year Marianne, my daughter and James, her husband, brought Michael my 8 year old grandson over to trick or treat in the neighborhood. My other daughter, Katie and her husband, Dan, brought Eliana, 4 3/4, and Tommy 3 over also. Traditionally, these three cousins come over for a pizza dinner and to trick or treat together in Mom Mom’s neighborhood. They are so excited to trick or treat they gobble up their pizza and are ready to roll out to visit the neighbors. This Halloween was unseasonably hot 80, so despite wanting to be Pluto and Goofy, Eliana and Tommy had a change of costumes. Eliana wore a pilot outfit and Tommy became a pirate. Michael was Captain America.
This year there were many costumed children and I went through 4 big bags of candy and a box of Halloween Oreo cookies. It was fun to greet them and compliment them on their costumes. The ages ranged from babies to early teens and they all enjoyed picking out their favorite candy. The trick or treating lasted for the entire two hours from 6-8 PM.
One of the newest additions to our Halloween decorations was projected Zombies on a shower curtain placed over the 3 windows in my bedroom. There were lots of compliments on the Zombies with some children asking if they were real. Most comments were Cool!
My oldest son John, and his wife Georgette’s two girls Nora 8 and Hannah 6 3/4, got together with some friends and went trick or treating in their neighborhood. Nora was dressed as Hermione from Harry Potter and Hannah was an owl. They also had a fun night.
Another son, Tom, and his wife Marissa, accompanied their two daughters Ari and Cami and had awesome costumes. Tom and Marissa and Ari were zombies, while Cami was a scary doll. Uncle Mike, Tom’s brother, went up to their home in Alexandria to join them and took some great pictures.
Luckily, Dan and Katie, brought their wagon for their children which enabled them to visit more houses than they would have by walking. They returned home before Michael who was walking with his Mom and Dad . When everyone returned they had stories of all the decorations they saw on their Halloween adventure. They also enjoyed counting their candy haul and giving some to Mom and Dad.
