A Wonderful Birthday

This year I decided what I really wanted for my birthday was for my adult children to attend 5 PM Mass with me at St. Ignatius Chapel Point in Port Tobacco, MD. I wanted their presence, instead of presents. I was thrilled that they all were able to make it, three having to travel from over an hour away to join me. When my oldest son, John, asked his 6 year old daughter Hannah where she wanted to sit, she chose the first row on the right side in front of the pastor, Father Clifford. I usually sit on the left side in the back. Nora, John’s 7 1/2 year old sat with me. All my other adult children and their significant others sat behind us.

After Mass we all drove to Silver Skewers, a Persian restaurant in Waldorf, MD. This was the site of my wonderful surprise 70th birthday orchestrated by my daughters and sons the year before. We had a delicious dinner and then everyone came back to the house and spent some quality time together. I really enjoy having everyone together getting a chance to catch up with one another. The adults traded stories and the cousins had fun playing. It was a very wonderful birthday!
