A very busy weekend!

This past weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating three family members birthdays. My youngest son, Stephen, turned 29 on May 31st, my grandson, Tommy, turned 3 on June 2nd and my oldest son, John, turned 43 on June 5th. There was another reason to celebrate also. Stephen’s fiancée, Elisabeth earned her Captain bars in the US Army and graduated from medical school.

I invited Stephen and Elisabeth out for lunch to celebrate and Michael, Tom and Ari were able to accompany us to Hunan Star restaurant in La Plata to commemorate Stephen’s birthday and Elisabeth’s accomplishments. I made apple bread as a treat for Stephen.

The next event of the day was to attend Tommy’s birthday. Katie and Dan planned a wonderful birthday party at their home for Tommy on Saturday, June 8th. They had a bouncy house with a water slide, water balloons, sidewalk chalk and more outside activities for the children who attended the party. The adults had a good time catching up with one another, especially the siblings. The weather cooperated and everyone enjoyed Tommy’s party. I baked two cakes for Tommy, a Mickey Mouse cake and a chocolate funfetti cake. I also gave John some carrot cupcakes for his birthday.

The next morning, I was invited to Marissa and Tom’s to go to brunch with them Cami and Ari and Marissa’s dad, Ramon and mother, Mary for an early Father’s Day brunch. We went to Burton’s in Alexandria and had a delicious meal. It was really nice to join them on this outing. I genuinely like their company. I made some chocolate chip muffins for Tom and Marissa and carrot cake cupcakes for Marissa’s Mom and Dad.

When I returned home, I had to drop off 3 dozen cookies at the church, because there were going to be 14 Jesuit novices visiting Southern Maryland and having dinner at St. Ignatius Chapel Point Church on Monday evening.

Later, Sunday afternoon, I was fortunate enough to attend Eliana’s piano recital at Christ Church in La Plata. She is my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter and she eagerly went up on the stage and did an amazing job with her performance.

Finally, Michael and I attended 6 PM Mass at Chapel Point and I was thankful for such a busy and exciting weekend with the family.

Happy Birthday, Tommy!
