Our October Birthdays

On Sunday, October 4th, the whole family got together to celebrate four special birthdays. It was wonderful to have everyone here for dinner and the party afterwards. We celebrated Camilla’s eighth birthday, October 8th, Tom’s forty third birthday, October 9th, Dan’s thirty ninth birthday, October 10th, and Michael’s fortieth birthday, October fourteenth. My friend and neighbor, Tracy, also joined us for dinner.

Of particular note, this was the first time Aurora, my newest granddaughter, seven weeks old visited with her Mom, Elisabeth and her Dad, Stephen. As the newest cousin, she joined her other eight cousins for the first time.

So with 20 attendees for dinner, we had two tables in the dining room for the adults, while the children/cousins ate together at the kitchen table. The menu for dinner included lemon chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli and brussels sprouts (courtesy of Tom and Marissa) and the kids favorite Hawaiian rolls.

The cousins enjoyed playing games including Hide and Seek in the basement with glow sticks provided by Uncle Mike. They decorated chocolate donut holes and mini donuts with candy eyes and candy corn for Halloween, and played with a virtual reality headset courtesy of Uncle Mike.

When it was time for the party, everyone came into the dining room to sing Happy Birthday to the four family members and then were treated to chocolate cake and ice cream. Having everyone come together and catch up with each other is always a delight for me.
